UMAR KHAN

I build healthcare companies where the rules are hardest.

About

I run two healthcare companies in two of the most heavily regulated markets in the country. Independent Life Disability Supports is a registered NDIS provider. LeafLine Clinic is a medicinal cannabis telehealth practice. I am the Managing Director of the first and the CEO of the second.

I am also in my third year of law at Monash. That is not a hobby beside the work, it is part of it. Both companies answer to a regulator before they answer to me, so I decided to learn the frameworks they live inside well enough to read them in the original.

Most of what I do is unglamorous by design: registration scope, clinical governance, the documents that decide whether a vulnerable person is looked after properly or quietly let down. I build the compliance first and the growth on top of it, never the other way around.

I work in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi as often as in English, so I can earn trust directly with the communities most providers only reach through a translator. I have been doing the real work since I was a teenager, and I am only getting started.

Before this

I didn't arrive at this. I've been building and working since I was a teenager: a first business of my own, real jobs while I was still at school, and a company running before my degree was finished. I started university meaning to study medicine, pivoted to law, and never stopped shipping things in between. None of it was a plan. All of it was practice.

Founder2021 - 2023

Wekreate

My first company, started as a teenager: a youth agency that connected other teenagers with real freelance work. I registered the ABN and built the website myself. It was where I learned that shipping something beats planning it.

Care2021 - 2022

Marketing manager, Sunrise2Sunrise Community Care

My first work inside the disability sector, running marketing for an NDIS provider while I was still at school. It is the thread I came back to and built a company on.

Teaching2023 - now

Chemistry tutor and education support

Years of VCE chemistry and Victorian classrooms. The discipline of explaining a hard thing simply, over and over, until it lands.

AI2024

AI analyst, Outlier

Reviewing AI model outputs against legal and safety standards. The same judgement I now build agents to carry across both companies.

Law2024 - now

LLB (Hons), Monash University

Third year, and the path I chose over medicine. The lens I now read every framework my companies live inside through.
